House of Many Ways - Diana Wynne Jones When the MC Charmain read the name "Howl Pendragon" in the letter, that mere name made me so happy. I love Howl, and it does not matter if he is not a main character in the story, he attracts the attention of the reader with any action. Even if he is a "child", like in this case.

Ms. Wynne was a wonderful writer. Hard to believe she wrote only 3 books in the series of Howl, because it could have been more. Maybe I did not like Charmain very much, but Howl-child compensates everything. And there is never a slow-paced moment in the story; something happens every time, and everyday chores like laundry is magical here.

Very recommended series to all people who likes great characters, magic, likeable villains and original stories.
