坂道のアポロン (1) (フラワーコミックス)

坂道のアポロン (1) (フラワーコミックス) - 小玉 ユキ I was searching for manga/anime similar to Nodame Cantabile, and this one seemed like it (school, jazz, josei). It may be a softer version of NC... it is less funny, less cute, with less musical elements, less intense, with less colorful characters. More than anything, it is a slice of life, period. Nishimi Kaoru is new in town, befriends his classmates Ritsuko and the punk Sentarou (he gets into a lot of fights, but he is actually a really nice guy).

Sentarou likes jazz and kind of gets Kaoru into it (Kaoru is a prodigy and plays piano, but classical music only). I thought I was reading a shounen-ai, maybe a yaoi, sometimes. Kaoru is a small, serious and very pretty guy, while Sentarou is big, outgoing and blond. There was like a slight hint of attraction (or maybe I am just reading to much MM).

The only scene that was musical was a bit weak. I did not feel the love nor the passion. Not a bad manga; it is actually good and mature, but after searching for "similar to NC" this one pales in comparison.
